I was born into the Hesquiaht First Nation and the youngest of my family. I’m proud to say that I am almost 28 years living a sober and non smoker life. Quitting these 2 very bad addictions has enabled me to face and to let go of a lot of ugliness that went hand-in-hand that brought a lot of shame and guilt. But I am 98% free and still learning how to respect and love myself. My sobriety has made so many positive outcomes to make myself feel comfortable in my own skin … I’m proud to be First Nations. I may not know too much of our history, but I am a survivor of the residential school system. It wasn’t easy to let go of the traumatic experiences I had to endure the years I was in the residential school ….but getting sober and staying sober helped me to let go of that horrific life that stole my innocence away. Now I am free from those traumatic flashbacks. But as life is I wasn’t spared from losing my parents, siblings, a daughter or friends … I got through these losses in my sobriety. I can be quiet, but I can also start or join a conversation and I can laugh but that doesn’t mean I don’t cry … I can cry to release what needs to be let go of and I don’t have to be drunk to show my tears. I cry when I need to. I love laughter and sometimes I can laugh pretty hard at my own jokes. (When I can remember) lol.
My ideal person I would love to meet is someone who can crack a good, clean joke once in awhile, but not someone who has to be a jokester all the time, but knows when to make someone have a good belly laugh. The most important thing I’d like is to keep my boundaries safe is to have that special friend who DOESN’T drink, toke or smoke. I am a casual, low maintenance person in appearance and would like same from a potential, great friend. I’m pretty easy going, so I’d enjoy someone that’s compatible. We don’t need to be 100% head-on in sync but having different levels of who we are can be interesting … we can’t always be so serious, If a man asks me if I can cook, I will ask ….why …. Can you build a house? My motive is …. We do what we can do….. no control freaking allowed! I just want someone that’s easy going … and that enjoys spending time with a partner and noooo I’m no attention seeker but togetherness can be wonderful. If you’re out there and can understand who I am looking for, let’s take a chance to see which path this will lead us to ….
